2008 Golf Scramble - Recap

The 26th Annual FCA Golf Scramble took place July 17, 2008 at Ironwood Golf Club in Fishers, Ind. The event was a tremendous success and was the largest scramble to date, with a total of 148 golfers.

As we began the initial planning of the event, we were intentional about keeping ministry at the focus. As a fundraising event, we prayed that God would use the event to raise significant dollars for the Central Indiana FCA Ministry, but more importantly that Christ would be evident throughout the day. As a result, we created a “Tee to Green Devotion” to demonstrate what FCA is all about:  using sport as a platform to share the gospel. The small devotional provided a quick 20 second verse and question to stir hearts to focus on Christ throughout the course.

New this year was the addition of a silent auction with 22 items available for bidding, including a Peyton Manning jersey, Colts tickets with a Reggie Wayne autographed football, a Peyton and Eli Manning Super Bowl MVP autographed print, and Titleist clubs and golf balls, just to name a few. Hole-in-one competitions on the course included a chance to win a trip to the Super Bowl, World Series, and NCAA Final Four. We also awarded six closest-to-the-pin and three long-drive winners.

This year’s first, second and third place winners went to:
     1st – Hendricks Regional Health
     2nd – Paul Beatty’s foursome
3rd – ERA Real Estate Links

Steven Schuld’s foursome took first place among the four teams attempting to qualify for the FCA National Tournament taking place in November at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

We want to give a special thanks to our top sponsors listed above. An additional thank you to all our golfers; we’re grateful for your participation. Come join us again next year!
